Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli archaeologists have announced that they have discovered a rare seal in the remains of a synagogue dating back some 2,700 years.

The Israel Antiquities Authority said in a statement that the seal, inscribed with a name in Paleo-Hebrew script and a winged jinn motif, was discovered near the wall of a 2,700-year-old synagogue in Jerusalem.

Excavation directors Dr. Yuval Baruch and Navot Rom said the black stone seal is the most beautiful seal ever discovered during excavations in ancient Jerusalem and was produced at the highest artistic level.

Experts believe that the name inscribed on the stone is Hosea Yahu, who was considered a senior administrator in the Kingdom of Judah. Hoshiyahu may have worn this stone seal around his neck as an amulet.
