Russia; A helicopter carrying 22 tourists goes missing in the eastern region
Moscow: A private Mi-8 helicopter, carrying 22 tourists, went missing in Russia’s eastern region of Kamchatka.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation) has confirmed that the Mi-8 helicopter carrying tourists has gone missing.
The agency said in a statement that the helicopter carrying the tourists was traveling from Vishkajik in the southern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula to the village of Nikolaykoka, located 25 kilometers to the east.
Regarding the missing helicopter, it was further informed that the search for the helicopter is ongoing in the said area and according to the preliminary information, 22 people were on board, however, it has been clarified that there were 3 crew members and 19 passengers.
The agency said that another ship has been dispatched to search for the missing helicopter, along with another Mi-8 helicopter and rescue teams are ready to go by land routes.
