The bodies of 6 Israeli hostages, including an American, were recovered from a tunnel in Gaza
Tel Aviv: The bodies of 6 Israelis taken hostage by Hamas, including one of American origin, have been recovered from a 20-meter underground tunnel in Rafah, Gaza.
According to Israeli media, the bodies of the hostages found include 23-year-old Hirsch Goldberg Pollen, 24-year-old Eden Yerushalmi, 25-year-old Uri Danino, 32-year-old Alex Lubnov, 40-year-old Carmel Gate, and 27-year-old Almog Sarosi.
Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that the bodies of these hostages were found in a tunnel that was about one kilometer away from the tunnel from where we rescued a hostage, Farhan al-Qadi, a few days ago.
“Since the rescue of Farhan al-Qadi, we were acting more cautiously than usual because we knew there might be more hostages in the area but did not know their exact location,” the Israeli military spokesman added.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari also said there were no clashes with Hamas inside the tunnel. By the time we arrived, they had killed the hostages and escaped.
Among them, Goldberg Pollen, Yerushalmi, Lubnov, Sarosi and Dino (an off-duty non-commissioned officer) were abducted from the Nova Music Festival near Kibbutz Reim, and Gat from nearby Kibbutz Beri, the Israeli military spokesman said.
It should be noted that 23-year-old Hirsh Goldberg Pollan, an American-born Israeli, is also included in these hostages.
US President Joe Biden said that we worked tirelessly to get our beloved Hirsch Goldberg Pollen safely home to his family. Heartbroken by the news of his death.
Hamas has not yet commented on the discovery of the bodies of the hostages, but on the previous incident of the discovery of the bodies of the hostages, Hamas said that these hostages were the targets of Israeli bombing.
