Bike-riding gun men attack village in Nigeria; 81 people killed
Abuja: More than 50 people armed with automatic weapons attacked a village in Nigeria’s Yobe state, killing 81 people and leaving many others missing.
According to the World News Agency, 50 people on more than a dozen motorcycles armed with RPG grenades and automatic weapons attacked Mafa village in Nigeria at 4 am.
The assailants fired indiscriminately, causing a stampede and villagers running for any hiding place they could find, but they could not find shelter. Bodies are scattered in the bushes and fields.
The attackers also set fire to shops and houses. Several villagers have been missing since the attack, believed to have fled the village in search of refuge and fallen into the hands of the attackers.
Local police have alleged that the attackers belong to the militant group Boko Haram, but Boko Haram has not denied or confirmed the attack.
It should be noted that civil war has been going on for the past 15 years in 3 states including Ube in Nigeria, as a result of which thousands of citizens have died and more than 2 million have been displaced.
