BEIJING: According to a recent article published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, Chinese researchers have proposed a new type of deep learning model to predict the life of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs).

The deep learning model has effectively eliminated the dependence on large amounts of charging test data and provided a new idea for predicting battery life in real time.

The article states that accurate LIB lifetime prediction is essential for normal and efficient operation of electrical equipment. However, such estimation faces major challenges due to the nonlinear capacity loss process of LIBs and uncertain operating conditions.

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) and Xi’an Jiaotong University have developed a method based on a small amount of charge cycle data to predict the current cycle life and remaining useful life of a target battery. proposed a deep learning model.
