UAE builds Arab world’s first nuclear power plant
Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has completed the Arab world’s first nuclear power plant.
According to the Arab media, in the statement released by the United Arab Emirates Atomic Energy Corporation, announcing the completion of the nuclear power plant, it has been said that this is a very important step towards nuclear energy.
The electricity generated from this nuclear power plant will be supplied to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) including Emirates Steel and Emirates Global Aluminium.
The statement added that the nuclear power plant has the capacity to generate 40 terawatts of electricity annually, which will meet 25 percent of the country’s electricity needs.
It should be noted that the first reactor of this nuclear power plant started functioning in 2020 and now the fourth reactor has also become fully operational.
The President of the UAE congratulated the entire team on the completion of the nuclear power plant, saying that it is an important step in our journey towards zero carbon emissions.
Saudi Arabia has also expressed its intention to build a nuclear reactor, but the United Arab Emirates has become the first Arab country to build a nuclear power plant.
The United Arab Emirates has developed this nuclear power plant with the help of South Korea.
